I created EDUSPORT USA, to promote awareness of the Athletic Scholarship Program in the USA and the opportunities available to young athletes through such a program.
As a product of the US Scholarship program, I speak with experience and sincerity when I say that there are very few opportunities in life that can match those offered by studying in the USA on an Athletic Scholarship.
Although a talented footballer, being selected in Scotland Youth squads and coming through the youth system at Motherwell Football Club (Scotland), I was aware that a career in professional football is often extremely difficult to achieve and in many cases short lived. It was with this in mind, that I decided to use my footballing talent to pursue an education in the USA.
In the year 2000, I was awarded a full scholarship, where I played NCAA Div I soccer in New York at Adelphi University before transferring to the University of Tampa, Florida in 2003 where I studied Sports Management.
Now, as a qualified soccer coach through the Scottish Football Association’s coaching scheme and as a member of the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America), it is my goal with EDUSPORT USA to provide assistance to sportsmen and women who wish to pursue a full time academic and sporting career in the USA.
